Xenia K. Schroeder, 87, of 116 Court St., New Haven passed away March 12, 2014 in Yale New Haven Hospital after suffering a massive stroke. She had been a resident of 116 Court St. for 26 years. She was born in Berlin, Germany on May 24, 1926. She received her diploma in chemistry in 1953. She was married to the late Dr. Hansjuergen Schroeder until they dissolved their marriage in 1979. They had no children. She was an amazing and interesting person. Very humble, she tried never to cause any trouble among the residents of the Court Street condominiums. She was a Nana to the three Mellos children for ten years and they miss her as does everyone in her building. She used to travel a lot and she was full of energy until her husband and companion of 65 years passed away in January 2012. His death broke her heart and body. Since then, Xenia was totally introverted and stopped talking to her neighbors. We were always there for her since I was the only friend she trusted and talked to. My family and I will miss you a lot, Xenia. We have to get used to the idea that you are not there anymore to give us your advice.
