Wyrtus L. Waldrip, 97, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Garden Villa. Born, May 22, 1913 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Rufus T. and Nellie C. (Hudlin) Starbuck.

Wyrtus was a laundry attendant at campus laundry east for 18 years. She was a longtime member of Mt. Calary Baptist Church.

Wyrtus was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed quilting and gardening. She also loved being with her family, friends and neighbors.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances Medley of Bloomington, two sons, Howard (Marie) Waldrip of Canton, PA, Gerald (Janice) Waldrip of Bloomington, four grandchildren, Barbara (Daniel) Deckard of Bloomington, Tina (Mark) Sexton of Spencer, Tim (Carol) Waldrip of Carmel, and Philip (Teresa) Waldrip of Bloomington, 10 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

Wyrtus was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburt F. Waldrip (1966), her parents, a grandson, James “Wally” Waldrip, a granddaughter, Patricia Jean, a great-grandson, Travis Waldrip and a great great-granddaughter, Jesse Jane Bridgewater.
