Mrs. Wylene Smith, age 83, of Newnan, GA, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born Theresa Wylene South to Carrie Lucille Worlds South and Callaway E. South on February 7, 1929 in Atlanta, GA. A graduate of Atlanta’s Girls High School, she was a secretary for the State of Georgia School Building Authority and Newnan Housing Authority, and then as Executive Secretary for Farmers & Merchants Bank in Senoia. She was a member of Decatur’s Pendley Hills Garden Club, then was a founding member and first President of the Lake Hills Garden Club. She loved baking and was known for her cakes. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eugene A. “Gene” Smith; sons Eugene C. “Little Gene” Smith (Kathy Ann), Mark C. Smith (Debra) and D. Wayne Smith; grandchildren Jason Smith, Kevin King, Eric Smith (Kourtenay), Brian Smith (Laura), Kristie Taylor; and great grandchildren Parker Smith, Samantha Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Joshua Smith, Andrew Smith and Benjamin Smith.
