Woodson L.”Woody” Tyson, 74, of Centralia, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018.

He was born October 27, 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Tommy Tyson and Oma (Chisholm)Tyson. He married Cindy Sanders in 1993 and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife of 25 years, Cindy Tyson of Centralia, he is also survived by a daughter, Gayla Alanes and husband Jose of Eureka, Illinois and a son: Chad Tyson and wife Lori of Watertown, New York; two step-daughters: Stephanie Simer and husband Rick of Centralia, Tonya Borgman and husband Mike of Iuka; a step-son: Jeff Houseman and wife Heather of Vergennes, Illinois. Woody was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother: Hubert Norwood and wife Linda of McComb, Mississippi and a sister: Ann Durham and husband Minton of McComb, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Jeffery Tyson, and a sister: Bertha Duncan.

Woody served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the BNSF Railroad for 28 years as a Conductor. He was a member of the Odin Gospel Lighthouse. In his younger years, Woody enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed being on the computer designing web pages.
