Woodrow Pershing Wilt, 93 of Newburg, WV, passed away Wednesday February 16, 2011 at Monongalia General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Marion County, son of the late Frank and Beula Jenkins Wilt. Woodrow was a coal miner, mechanic and a welder and he also worked for the Wilt Brother’s Machine Shop in Philippi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football and baseball. He attended Shay’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Woodrow served in the US Army during WWII part of Company M, 160th Infantry and was a member of the Col. Rowan VFW Post #2345. Surviving are one son, Bruce W Wilt and Rebecca; one grandson, Cody W Wilt; all of Newburg; one sister, Frances Lambert of Hickory, PA; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Wolfe of Newburg; three brother-in-laws, Adam McDaniel and Nathan McDaniel both of Newburg and Fred McDaniel of Philippi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Woodrow was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Eunice McDaniel Wilt in 1999, three brothers; John, Carl and Frank Wilt.
