Winston R. Burel, age 94, of Buford, GA, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Martin Burel; second wife, Kathleen Pugh Burel; parents, Alvin and Eva Burel; grandson, Steve Burel; and son-in-law, Danny Austin.
Mr. Burel is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Bonita Pass Burel, Buford, GA; daughter, Judy Burel Austin, Winder, GA; grandchildren, Julie Carlton, Buford, GA, Kim Hunter, Winder, GA and Kelly Macaw, Winder, GA; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Thelma Burel White, Muncy, PA; nephews, Steve and Marsha White of Texas and Lee and Annie White of Texas; and several cousins.
Mr. Burel was born on October 22, 1926 in Buford, GA.
He graduated from Sugar Hill High School and he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Mr. Burel retired from General Motors Assembly Plant after 37 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 10 and he served on the Buford Zoning Board of Appeals for 28 years. Mr. Burel was a member of West Buford Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 55 years and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class.
