Signal Mountain—-Winston Paulding Caine, Jr., MD, FACP, died at home on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Born in Chattanooga on April 16, 1937, he attended the Bright School and received his secondary education from The McCallie School. In 1959, he received his BA in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, having been on a football scholarship for 4 years. He continued to be involved in leadership roles in these schools’ alumni activities. Dr. Caine received his Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1963. He then served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine followed by a fellowship in hematology. From July 1967 through July 1969, Dr.
