Mrs. Willene Johnson Williams, 92, a lifelong resident of Newnan, passed away peacefully at Wesley Woods of Newnan on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Willene was born in Newnan on January 8, 1924, to Wilber and Eunice (Couch) Johnson.

She was a graduate of Newnan High School and Crawford W. Long School of Nursing including further certification in Public Health. She spent her career as a head nurse with the Coweta County Health Department retiring in 1980. She married her long-time sweetheart, J.T. Williams, Jr. in 1945 upon his return from WWII. They were happily married for 62 years before his death in 2008.

Besides her parents and husband, Willene was predeceased by her son, Rodney Williams, her sister, Hazel Johnson Day, and her brother, Edward Johnson. Mrs.

Williams is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Stripling of Newnan, and her daughter-in-law, Carol K. Williams of Macon. Her grandchildren are Kristen S. Salvo and her husband, Chuck Salvo, of New York, Lauren Stripling of Athens, Reid Stripling of Atlanta, Sarah Williams of Atlanta, and Spencer Williams of Macon. Her great-grandchildren are Frace and J.C. Salvo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marjorie Williams of Newnan and many special nieces and nephews.
