Winifred Beatrice Otte, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on January 2, 2017 at Tuscany House in Viera, Florida where she had resided the last three years. She was 91.
Winnie was born November 14, 1925 to Thornton and Currence (James) Rohrer in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania. The center of her life was her family and her many friends. She retired after 20 years with the Maryville, Mo. School District.
Winnie met Lawrence “Bart” Hanna during World War II in Pennsylvania where he was briefly stationed and she was working at Letterkenny Army Depot. Post war, Bart and Winnie moved to Missouri. A daughter,Victoria Leigh, was born in 1947 and another, Susan Joan, in 1954. Following Bart’s death, Winnie remained in Missouri and later married Thomas Otte in 1980. She was step-mother to Nancy Otte Payne , Smithville, Mo. and Kim Otte, Springfield, Mo., both of whom survive.
Following Thomas Otte’s passing on September 8, 1989, Winnie returned to Pennyslvania to be near her beloved brothers and sisters. After wintering in Florida a number of years, Winnie relocated to Melbourne, Fl. in 2003.
Winnie is survived by her daughters: Victoria Peake, Melbourne, Fl., and Susan Webb(Dr. Mark Webb), East Grand Rapids, MI. She has four granddaughters: Susan Elizabeth Peake Conway (James Conway) Rockledge, Fl.; Leigh Kathrine Peake DiBernardo (David DiBernardo) Miramar Beach, Fl.; Natalie Lauren Webb Bullock (Michael Bullock )East Grand Rapids, MI and Ashley Victoria Webb Cintorino (Nicholas Cintorino) Walker, MI. Winnie was proud of her seven great-grandchildren: Sheamus Joslyn Conway, Cicely Rose Conway, Coleman Thomas Conway,
Isabel Grace DiBernardo, Lily Ann DiBernardo, Jeremiah Russell Bullock and Hanna Kathryn Bullock. Winnie is survived by three siblings, Kathleen Rohrer Runk, Lynchburg, Virginia; Donald Rohrer, Chambersburg, PA and James Rohrer (Eleanor) Harrisburg, PA. Many nieces and nephews in Missouri, Pennysylvania, Virginia and South Carolina survive her.
In addition to her parents, Winnie was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Giacobello, Evelyn Park and Barbara Fogal, and a brother, Wilford Rohrer and son-in-law, Dr. Thomas Peake.
