Winifred Mae “Winnie Pooh” Spiers, a cherished and vibrant member of the Matoaca community, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 77. Winnie’s presence was a warm beacon of joy and kindness. She was born on June 29, 1947, to the late Wilbur and Mildred Norcross Spiers, and was also preceded in death by her dear friends, Rose Hancock and Loraine “LeAnn” Murphy.

Winnie’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her community and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. A passionate knitter, she was known for creating beautiful, handmade treasures that were lovingly shared with friends and family. Her generosity extended beyond her knitting needles; she loved local bingo where her laughter and spirited enthusiasm were a delight to all.

Winnie was also a devoted admirer of Elvis Presley. Her love for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was a defining aspect of her personality, and she could often be found tapping her feet to his timeless tunes, her face lit up with joy. A woman of great warmth and boundless spirit, Winnie’s presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her.

Her community was her family, and her contributions, both big and small, will be remembered with fondness and gratitude.

She is survived by her special friends, Vickie and Dickie Hawkins; her “boyfriend”, David Walker and wife, Lisa; friends, Cindy Thompson and Bobby Holdsworth; and her many friends and staff members at the Dinwiddie Health & Rehab Center. Special thanks to the staff of At Home Care Hospice for their extraordinary care of Winnie in her time of need.

Rest in peace, Winnie. Your light and laughter will forever resonate in our hearts.
