There are probably a few unfortunate souls in the world who did not like our friend Steve Minix. The only reason for that being that they had never met him. Steve’s adventuresome life came to a sudden end on Friday, January 27th as the result of a sudden heart attack. The years up to that point were ones into which he crammed, as much as possible, family, faith, friends and football. He tried to keep it in that order – unless it was game day.
He was born June 25, 1972 in Newnan and was the son of the late Elaine Holley. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his step-father Kenny Holley, a great nephew Rich Lawrence and his wife Dana’s parents, Ann and Joe Lord.
Steve consumed life in all its bounty. His life exemplified his passion for selflessness in his own needs, but knew no bounds when it came to being helpful, considerate, joyful, hardworking and patient – ever looking outward and never inward to himself. That made him a treasure to his family and friends. His consummate work ethic made him a valued employee of Buffalo Rock. Steve’s loss is immense to his wife Dana Lord Minix. Love for family was an example that came easily to Steve and will be long remembered by his sons T. J. (and Chastane) Joiner and Andrew Minix, his daughter, Heidi Minix and grandchildren, Daniel Joiner and Conner Joiner.
Survivors also include, his sister Jennifer Bellamey (Lamar), sister-in-law JoAnn Lord, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Tammy Thompson and Phillip; his father Winford (and) Susan Minix. He was adored by his nieces and nephews Brandi Sykes, Ricky Lawrence, Terry Sykes, Justin and Sessily Thompson and Noah Bellamey. Pallbearers will be; Terry Sykes, Justin Thompson, Jon Gibbs, Andrew McHargue, Richard Sheriff, Michael Kuhn, Jamie Shellnutt and Ricky Lawrence.
