Wilson Jackson was born on December 2, 1955, to Elizabeth and William Jackson in Newark, New Jersey. Upon graduating from the Newark Public School System, Wilson enlisted and served in the United States Marines in December 1974.
After being honorably discharged in June 1976, Wilson furthered his education by obtaining a Boiler’s Operating License. He then began repairing boilers and various home improvement jobs under the tutelage of Mr. Hargrove. Wilson always had a sense of “I can do anything.” With that approach, he became self-employed. He was able to secure several home improvement contracts. Wilson enjoyed working with his hands. As a result of his excellent work, he was able to secure a landscaping contract with Union Chapel AME Church where he meticulously maintained the grounds of a public area on Schley Street in Newark. He cared for this area until his health no longer afforded him the opportunity to continue. Wilson, as well as the city, was very proud of his work.
Wilson loved all kinds of music but especially R&B. At any moment in time you could hear him singing and he had a pretty good voice. Wilson also, was a great sports fan. When the seasons rolled around, you would often find him in front of the TV cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Giants and the New York Knicks.
Wilson departed this life on August 4, 2021 in Newark’s Beth Israel Hospital surrounded by his loving niece and daughter. He was preceded in death by his father William Jackson; siblings Edward Daniels, Samuel Daniels, Gwendolyn Anderson, Philip Jackson and grandson, Josaiah Bludson. Wilson leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Elizabeth Jackson, three children, Taisha Bludson, Kalif Bludson (Miracle), Izaiah Bludson (Crystal). Eight grandchildren, Abdul Bludson (Daneasha), Kyeriah Bludson-Jacobs, Inayah Bludson, Kayla Bludson, Kalif Bludson Jr., Tyreek Bludson, Eli Fredrick, Katelyn Bludson, one great-grandchild, London-Amor Bludson, a special niece and caregiver, Tonya Suer (Sheldon), and a host of relatives and friends.
Though he is no longer physically with us, his memory will forever live in our hearts
