Wilma June Wallace Porter, 87, Pendleton, died August 18, 2008 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after an extended illness.
She was born July 17, 1921 in Frankton, and resided in Pendleton most of her life. She retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors. June as she was called by family and friends, traveled all over the United States and spent many winters in Florida. Her hobbies were making crafts.
She is survived by her daughter; Lois Ashby Carpenter; sons; Jack L. Ashby & wife, Candy and Jim Ashby & wife, Sara; grandchildren, Brian Rodgers & wife, Allison, Brad Rodgers, Lisa Rodgers, Jimmy Rodgers & wife, Jill, Elizabeth Paulshock & husband, Jeff, Amy Shinnman & husband, Jerry, Chris Ashby & wife, Stacy, Michael Ashby & wife, Eun Young and Heather Wakley & husband, Anthony; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers, John Wallace of Tipton, Robert Wallace of Frankton & Forest Wayne & wife, Betty Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Rawlins House and also Dr. Woodall for his compassionate care and the third floor staff at St. John’s Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Porter; parents, Earl & Etta Closser Wallace; brother, Lawrence Wallace; son-in-law, Bill Carpenter; grandson, Jeff Rodgers and sister-in-laws.
