Wilma “Jean” Dechant, 75, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Alphonsus hospital in Boise. Jean was born July 10, 1934 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the only child of Effie Jo and Roscoe Taff. She graduated from Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, California in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Jean met and married Edwin “Ed” Dechant on November 16, 1952. Jean was a Navy wife and followed Ed to Kwajalein Island and two tours on Midway Island. Upon Ed’s retirement from the Navy in 1968, they made their home in Caldwell, Idaho.
Jean is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ed Dechant; her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Jo & Robert Naumann and Georgianna & Richard Buhler of Wrangell, Alaska; her grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson, James Jackson, Jamie Lynn Strong, Candice Buhler and Kimberly Buhler; and her great-grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Joseph Smith, Matthew Strong, Cassandra Strong, Serena Strong, Brianna Davis, Bailey Jackson, Jayden Buhler, Petyon Moody and Rylee Moody.
She was preceded in death by both her father and mother.
