Wilma Elaine (Goemans) Luehrs, 86, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on December 21, 1927 in Hull, Iowa to Reverend William and Emily (Mueller) Goemans. Wilma was raised in Mead, Nebraska where she attended grade school. She later graduated from Mead High School with the class of 1947. After graduating, Wilma worked in an Ordinance plant in Mead until being married.
On August 1, 1954, Wilma was united in marriage to Charles J. Luehrs. To this union a daughter, April, was born. The couple made their home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska before she moved to Humboldt. In 1968, Wilma became the first Director of Nursing at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt. This was a position she held until her retirement from the nursing home in 1991. Wilma had a very witty and outgoing personality and truly loved being with people. She was a member of The Humboldt Bible Church and a staff member of the nursing home for many years serving and aiding many residents and families in the community. Wilma passed away at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska on Thursday, January 23, 2014, having reached the age of eighty-six years, one month, and two days. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Alisha D. Hunzeker.
Wilma is survived by her daughter April Hunzeker and her husband Roger of West Branson, MO; grandchildren: Joshua J. Hunzeker and his wife Alice of West Point, NE; Amber D. Hunzeker of Amity, OR; and many other relatives and friends.
