Mr. Willis “Will” Y. Jordan, Jr. of Birmingham, formerly of Lanett,  passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Birmingham.

From his birth on June 3, 1929 Will was beloved by his family and friends. He grew up in Lanett and graduated from Auburn University in 1951. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. For 30 years he worked for NASA and the U.S. Army Ballistic Missile Defense Organization at Redstone Arsenal, privileged to be one of many engineers that helped man go to the moon.

A charter member of Valley United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Will was the founding scout master of the church sponsored Boy Scout troop 85. He was a lifetime member of the Auburn Alumni Association and lifelong fan of his beloved Auburn Tigers.

Will was preceded in death by his parents Willis Young Jordan, Sr., Bernice Bruce Jordan and siblings Ann Proctor and Hugh Jordan.

He is survived by his former spouse Belle Thornton Jordan; brother, Jesse J. Jordan, sons; Timothy Bruce Jordan (Christi) and Willis Young Jordan, III (Sally); 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
