Willis Norman Schonowski, Sr., 84, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away on April 11, 2021. Willis was born on December 30, 1936, in Baltimore, to the late Virginia and Robert Schonowski. He attended Southern High School for the first two years, and then was recruited by Calvert Hall College High School to play soccer and baseball for the last two years. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Private First Class. Willis went on to work as a Longshoreman at the Port of Baltimore and was a distinguished nationally and internationally known labor leader for more than 50 years. He was a member of the I.L.A., MD Soccer Hall of Fame, MD Baseball Hall of Fame, and South Baltimore Softball Hall of Fame. Willis led a full life and was extremely talented in everything he did.
Willis is survived by his devoted wife, Norma A. Schonowski; his loving children, Kathleen Schonowski, Cynthia (John) Snider, and Willis Schonowski Jr.; his beloved step-daughters, Deborah (Jack) Helms and Theresa (Edward) Woolford; his cherished granddaughter, Erin (Darryl) Mixon and great-grandson, John Clark Mixon; He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and his dear siblings, Kenneth Schonowski and Virginia Flentje. He is also survived by many extended family and friends. Willis was predeceased by his siblings, Leonard Schonowski and Linda Scherch
