Lt. Col. (Retired USAF) Willis Calvin Dean, a loving husband, father and grandfather went to the Lord on June 2, 2008 in Boerne, Texas. He was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania on August 12, 1923 to Joseph and Lila Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Montague and Lila Belle Dean of Pennsylvania, and son Glenn David Dean of Pipe Creek, Texas. He is survived by his Sister, Ruth Good of Cheyenne, Wyoming, his wife Ann F. Dean, Daughter Julie Bray and her husband John of Boerne, Texas, Son Larry Walker and his wife Colleen of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, son Richard Walker of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and son Gene Walker and his wife Lynne of Buda, Texas, sons Phillip Dean of Mississippi and Richard Reynolds of New Jersey, and nephews Jan and Kit. He is also survived by his 15 beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Lauren and her husband Jeremy, Kelsee, Amy and her husband Jason, David, Justin, Allison, Trent, Beverly, Kimberly, Travis, Jacob, Luke and Lizzie. He also had one precious great granddaughter, Sarah Rae. He is also survived by his loving dog and best friend Patrick whom he cherished.After graduating from Munhall High School in Homestead, Pennsylvania in 1941, he joined the Air Force. There he attended flight school in Texas and became a navigator. He served in World War II, in the South Pacific as a Bombardier with the 58th Bomb Wing. After the war he went into the Reserves and then entered George Washington University where he earned a bachelors degree in Journalism. From there he attended one year of law school. At that time he decided he wanted to join the CIA and had been accepted, but was recalled to active duty and was assigned to serve in Korea. It was at that time he decided to stay in the military where he later served in Vietnam as Public Information Officer. He made the decisions on what information would be released to the public back in the United States. After retiring in 1969 from March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, he moved his family to San Antonio, Texas. There he began San Antonio Silver Recovery Inc., which he continued to operate until . Dean loved his country, his family and the many charities he contributed to. He was a devoted animal lover and advocate.
