Willie “William” Nicholas Poole, 77, of Anderson, passed away after an extended illness on April 26, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Montgomery, Alabama, and resided most of his life in Anderson.

Willie served his country in the Army as a scout, where he also played basketball and baseball. He retired from the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 42 years of service. He was a member of Kingdom Hall. He was an accomplished martial artist, who taught and mentored many of the city of Anderson’s youth. He also competed for the chance to participate in the Olympics. He was well respected and loved by all he came in contact with.

Willie is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Swain-Williams) Poole, children, Ray (Ann) Poole, Karen Poole-Jennings, Myra Poole, grandchildren, Tyler and Christain Poole, Wesley and Anna Gustin, Michael Ward, Kenneth and Michael Jennings, Jamaal Williams, Kyra and Lexi Kern, great-grandchild, Camdyn Williams, siblings, Alfred (Helen) Poole, Ocie (Carmen) Poole, Larry (Crystal) Poole, Patricia Love, Phyllis Poole, Lora Poole, Mary Poole; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends who cared and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Williams, father, Alfred Poole, mother, Neoma Poole, and brothers, Harold O. Poole, Fred Spikner, Nelson Spikner, and John Spinner.
