Willie Nobles, a resident of Grove Hill, better known to family and friends as “Buddy Nobles,” made his earthly transition on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, while at Spring Hill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.
He was born to the parentage of the late Cora Clarke Nobles and Essie Nobles on May 20, 1925 in Thomaston. Willie was a member of Wilson Chapel AME Church in Grove Hill. Buddy, as he was often called, retired from the logging industry as an operator following many years of working to provide for his family. He later began his own business repairing small engines and appliances. Buddy was also a great farmer who loved growing vegetables and sharing them with people through the community at no charge. That was the kind of man he was! Always willing to share what he had with others and doing what he could to help someone else.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lola B. Nobles; and two children, Charles Nobles and Dorothy Bettis.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his five devoted and caring children, Willie E. Nobles, Eartha Nobles, Ervin (Tess) Nobles and Shirley (Carlos) Nobles, all of Mobile, and his devoted baby, Alberta (Pat) Gaines of Prince George, Va.; one devoted sister-in-law, Minnie Law of Mobile; one niece, Autherine Nobles-Merritt of Prichard; devoted friend, Johnnie George of Mobile; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; with a host of other relatives, family and friends.
