Ms. Willie M. Phelps was born October 29, 1910 in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late Simon and Minnie Mae Gibson Owens. She was married to the late Hiram Phelps.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Kentucky she joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, KY where she remained a faithful member until she became ill. She loved her pastor and church family and they continued to express their love even after she moved back to Moulton.
She was the mother of one son, S. J. Owens who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters-in-law, Bessie Owens of Moulton, AL and Evelyn Owens of Nashville, TN; loving and kind nieces and nephews, a wonderful friend Nettie Gray, and a lifetime friend Barbara Reid.
