Mr. Willie Lewis Wynne, son of Erma and Emerson Wynne Sr., was born in  Dyer, Tennessee, on December 27, 1939.

At an early age, Willie confessed his love for Christ and was baptized at Dyer C.M.E.

He became a faithful and active member of Jones Tabernacle A.M.E.

As a child, Willie attended Dyer Rosenwald Elementary and graduated from Trenton Rosenwald High School. He continued his education at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. Willie also served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he earned an Honorable Discharge.

Willie was a hard worker, a trait he learned early in life. Dyerwas a small town and opportunities for African-Americans were few. Willie and his older brother were the first African-Americans in Dyer to deliver a paper route. They were also the first to work as Bell Hops in all of Gibson County. Willie was extremely fashionable and loved participating in fashion shows. His fondness for fashion landed him in the ever-popular Ebony magazine, the runways of L.S Ayres and Company, Wm. H. Block, the exclusive men’s store, L. Strauss & Co., as well as other charitable organizations. Willie
