Mrs. Willie Faye Johnson, lovingly know as Ms. Faye, was born April 28, 1933 in Cameron, Texas. She was the fifth child born to Horace and Cleo “Big Mama” Johnson. Additional children born from this marriage were Horace May, Odell “Brother”, Anna Jewel and Tar Lee “To Sweet”. After the death of her husband Ms. Cleo met and married Mr. Tom Haynes on August 28, 1937. Children born from this marriage were Tommie Lee, Naomi, and Essie. The family moved to San Diego in 1944 where the remaining children were born, John D., Eddie, Carl Lee, Alice, Evelyn and Jerry.

Faye found Christ at a very young age under the leadership of the late Rev. W. H. Henderson at Mt.

In the late 50’s Faye worked as a Housekeeper and in the 60’s as a Sales Clerk at Sally’s Boutique, where she was able to share her love for fashion! As her family grew, Ms. Faye decided to return home as a Homemaker to care for her children. Subsequently, she became a Foster Parent and along with her husband opened their home to many children for over twenty years; living by their belief in, “Helping others so that their living will not be in vain.”

During her sixty-three years as a faithful and dedicated servant of God, Ms. Faye served as Mt. Erie Choir President, Director, Secretary, Treasurer and a Soloist where she ministered with such songs as, “Jesus Is All Over Me” (a favorite of her pastor, Dr. Walter G. Wells), “God Is Standing By” and “He Will Provide”. After leaving the choir to care for her ailing husband, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1999, Ms. Faye joined the Naomi Circle where she served as Recording Secretary.
