Willie Clinton Scruggs Jr. was born August 11, 1951 to Billie Dean Weames Scruggs and the late Willie Clinton Scruggs Sr. He departed this life on April 7, 2015 at River City Rehabilitation Center in Decatur, AL. He was preceded in death by his father and his loving grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Reedus and brother-in-law, Shelby Spraggins.
He was baptized at an early age and joined Kings Memorial United Methodist Church in Decatur, AL. He was a member of the Methodist Men. Willie loved his church family and Alabama Football, he was a die hard Alabama Fan.
He attended Cherry Street Elementary School and a graduate of the Lakeside High School Class of 1969. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduating, and lived abroad until his illness brought him home.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Billie Dean Weames Scruggs of Decatur; five sisters, Alma Reedus of Cleveland, OH, Teresa Spraggins, Carolyn Scruggs, and Pamela Scruggs all of Decatur, and Elizabeth Porter (Nathaniel) of Columbus, GA; four brothers, Gregory Scruggs of Decatur; Paul Scruggs of Chicago, IL, Ronnie (Arnell) Scruggs of Arlington, TN, William (Dana) Scruggs of Decatur; two aunts, Dorothy Scruggs of Cleveland OH and Delores Boswell of Jacksonville, FL; two special aunts, Billie Phillips and Jeanette Crayton of Decatur and Faye Slidge of Huntington, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
