William “June” Adkins Jr. was born on August 25, 1939 in Decatur, Alabama to the late William Sr. and Annie Adkins. The Lord called him home on June 22, 2016. His final days were spent surrounded by family, friends, and his church family. He touched multiple lives with his unique dressing style. He loved the color red; his trademark dress code was black leather vest and black leather pants and leather boots but the outfit was not complete without the signature “red bandana”.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, siblings Katie Adkins, Mae Easter A. Fuqua, and his great grandson Jayden Adkins.
At an early age he attended Garner Memorial CME Church until he relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Adkins spent a great deal
of his adulthood in Chicago, Illinois where acquired the nickname “Chico”.
Bro. William Adkins rededicated his life to Christ on May 15, 2011 under the leadership of Bishop T.D. Strong where he was a faithful member.
William Adkins leaves to cherish his memory: four sons, William Wayne Adkins of Chicago, Illinois, Christopher (Dorothy)Franklin of Decatur, Alabama, William (Carol) Adkins III of Columbus, Ohio, Don (Barbara) Adkins of Massey, Alabama; one daughter, D’Leela Adkins of Decatur, Alabama; two brothers, James (Georgia) Adkins and Carlton Adkins both of Decatur, Alabama; three sisters, Brenda Kirk, Linda(James) Wiggins and Latonya Adkins all of Decatur, Alabama; a loving nephew who he reared like a brother, Clarence (Damita) Adkins; two special little angel caregivers, Kelton and Ayia-Grace Petty, 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
