William “Bill” Cameron Ward, age 90, was born May 9, 1923 and went to be with the Lord, August 24, was preceded in death by his father, William Oliver Ward; mother, Ann Fahrner; wife of 60 years, Malene Beason Ward; son, William Cameron Ward Jr.; and daughter, Donna Ward Chafin. He is survived by three daughters, Karla Ward Self (Buddy) of Atlanta, Janice Ward Chancey of Birmingham; Gwen Ward Vinzant- Kendrick (Steve) of Hoover; son-in-law, Randy Chafin; seven grandchildren, Scott Self (Beth), Whitney Self Kollar (Chad), Chace Chancey, Lauren Chafin, Tracy Vinzant, Jennie Chafin, Abbey Vinzant; six great grandchildren and his caregiver of seven years, Loretta Carter. He served from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Army and worked for 35 years at South Central Bell. He was a talented musician playing the guitar, bass fiddle and piano in bands such as The Melody Kings. He was an active member of South Roebuck Baptist Church for many years until moving to Hoover when he became an active member of Riverchase Baptist Church.
