William “Billy” Wagner, age 87, of Algona, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Kossuth County Regional Health Center. William John Wagner, the son of Nick B. and Katie (Heiderscheidt) Wagner was born on March 19, 1929, in Algona, Iowa. He attended country school at Cresco #3 schoolhouse. William enlisted in the Army and served as an Engineer during the Korean War and was stationed in Munich, Germany.



William was a devoted farmer and farmed all his life. William loved fishing, hunting, corn shelling, raising and butchering hogs, raising chickens and selling eggs, gardening and giving others his produce and most of all he loved visiting with people and telling stories. William is survived by a brother, Joe (Joyce) Wagner of Wesley; two sisters, Genevieve Klein of Dakota City and Kathrine Aman of Algona; his beloved dog, Sam and several nieces and nephews and other family members.



He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Peter, John, Michael and Nicholas Wagner and sisters, Susie Zeller, Mary Davis, Florence Frahm, Margaret Rezabek and Annie Wagner. Billy had requested that Memorials be given to St. Cecelia Catholic Church.
