William T. Brown, MD, Lieutenant Commander United States Navy, 78, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and succumbed to the disease on February 19, 2012. Dr. Brown was one of few surgeons to be triple board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He was board certified in General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. He graduated the University of Miami School of Medicine in its third graduating class. He then trained at Northwestern University affiliated hospitals in Chicago, IL.   Dr. Brown returned to Miami with his wife and family and was based in Miami since 1965. He was a past Chief of Surgery at Miami Children’s Hospital and Baptist Hospital.  As a Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. Brown performed the first successful Thymic transplant in the World. As a Thoracic Surgeon, he wrote the Atlas of Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery. He was progressive with his thoughts and was a pioneer of CyberKnife treatments for tumors in the chest and abdomen.  He published numerous articles and lectured around the World teaching physicians and surgeons from his experiences. D r. Brown practiced medicine until his medical treatments prevented him from doing so.
