William S. Simpson “Simp” Born in Levittown, NJ (now Willingboro) he was one of the first few babies born at the former Rancocas Valley Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Burlington, other than the time he spent traveling during his military career. Bill was a graduate of Burlington Township High School where he was a member of the 1977 football South Jersey undefeated Group I Champions.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, joining upon graduation, from high school. In the Marines he received numerous award medals and citations. Again in the Marines he was a member of a Championship Football team. The US Marine Corps West Region undefeated Armed Forces Football Champions in which he was named to the All Marine Football Team for that year. He also served in the New Jersey Air National Guard and the United States Marine Reserve.
He was formerly employed by the Dept. of Defense at McGuire AFB and the United States Postal Service in Moorestown, NJ. Bill was a Life Member of Scully Bozarth Post 1817 Veterans of Foreign Wars Burlington, NJ. He served as a Post Commander from 1995-1997, Commander of The Post Honor Guard for many years as well as Post Trustee for numerous years. He also served as District 11 Senior Vice Commander and Poppy Chairman as well as a member of the State of NJ Membership Development Team for The Department of New Jersey VFW.
He was also a member of Marine Corps League Burlington County Detachment 695 and Military Order of the Devil Dogs, The Marine Corps Associations, AMVETS Post 0251 as well as the Oneida Boat Club in Burlington where he previously served as Secretary for the club, and the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 540 Camden during his years with the Postal Service. An avid football fan he was a longtime season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Eagles with his brother Ed.
He loved watching all the Eagles games as well as his favorite college team Penn State. Watching black and white movies and military movies was another passion of his. He was predeceased by his father Edward, his sister Darlene and his beloved English Bulldogs Red Dog and Mac. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Sue, mother Marian, brother Ed (GiGi), mother in law Nancy, father in law John, sister in laws: Donna, Debbie; brother in law Charlie, nieces Nicole, Taylor, nephews: John, Scot, Andrew, his beloved Bulldog Beau and many friends.
