William R. (Bill) Howard joined his rock in heaven on September 7, 2011.
Bill was born in Stockton, CA on July 11, 1931 to Marjorie and Henry Howard. Bill attended Boise High and moved on to Boise Junior College for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps on February 4, 1952 and was shipped out to South Korea. Bill was honorably discharged on February 3, 1960.
Bill married the love of his life, Carol J. Peterson on April 19, 1958 in Idaho Falls. Together they moved to Colorado Springs in 1960, moved back to Idaho Falls in 1961, then Burley in 1965, and settled in Caldwell in 1975. Together they have three daughters, Gwen, Patricia and Connie.
Bill had a passion for sports and was a diehard Mariners fan. He even had the chance to play with greats such as Harmon Killebrew and Ted Williams while playing at Boise Junior College. Other hobbies also include golf, cribbage, and pinochle with Ella, Bob and Carol. Bill was an avid Elk’s member as well as the Lion’s Club.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Howard; sister, Jeanie Keeney; and mother and father, Marjorie and Henry.
He is survived by daughters, Gwen (Clayton) Nii, Patricia Hayes and Connie (Jeff) Russell; six grandchildren, Jon, Tia, Jennifer, Abigail, J.D. and Katlyn; as well as four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer their special thanks to the Boise Behavioral Hospital for all the kind and loving care they provided Bill in his last days.
