William Richard George, age 61 of Norwalk, beloved husband of Christina (Mangone) George, died on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his home. He was born in Norwalk, July 28, 1949, the son of William Bud and the late Norma (Haven) George.

In addition to Christina, his wife of 41 years, and his father, Bud, he is survived by his children; April Bryant (Rick), Christy George-Tottenham (Pat), Kellee George-Abdelwahab (Osama) and Amanda Diurno (Mario), his beloved Grandchildren who loved him more than anything; Julia, Lily and Chase Bryant, Grace and Will Tottenham, Trey and Phoenix Diurno, and a baby on the way, his sisters; Sharon Simon, Wendy Snow, Toni and Phil Fenton, as well as Debbie Tegano, Tony and Mary Mangone, many nieces, nephews and great nieces, and his best friend Ed Terry. In addition to his mother, he was also predeceased by his nephew Brian Simon, and mother and father-in-law, Dom and Rose Mangone.

Mr. George had worked for SNET for 26 years, and the Norwalk Police Department for 13 years and ended his working years where he began, at Smitty’s. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, a Union Rep at SNET, President of Babe Ruth and Commissioner of NAA, he coached softball, football and biddy basketball. William enjoyed tag sales, old cars, sports, race cars, golf and fishing, as well as the Oysterfest, Wildwood and Playland. He enjoyed working in the yard making things in Papa Bud’s cellar. He was a painter and handyman who enjoyed his newspaper and morning coffee. He enjoyed helping others and making them laugh.
