William R. Thompson, 80, of Salisbury passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence.
He was born July 27, 1932 in Rowan County the son of the late Reid and Goldie L. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was an active member of Dunn’s Mountain Baptist Church prior to his declining health due to kidney disease. He served in the US Marine’s during the Korean War. He worked at Salisbury Marble and Matthews International as a stone cutter
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty J. Miller Thompson; son, William Thompson, Jr. of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Diane T. Foster (Rick) of Salisbury; brothers, Herbert Thompson (Nancy) of Salisbury, Jimmy Thompson (Helen) of China Grove and Tommy Thompson (Thelma Ann) of Statesville; three, grandchildren; four, great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
