William Robert Pioppi, Jr., 80 of Plymouth passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021 at Bourne Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Judith (Keating) Pioppi of 59 years. Billy was born and raised in Plymouth before moving to Carver in 2006. Son of the late William R. Pioppi, Sr. and Eva (Bergonzini) Pioppi. Educated in Plymouth and graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1958. Following his graduation, Billy joined the US Army in August 1958 starting his training at Fort Monmouth, NJ as a Cryptograph Repair Technician. In 1959, he was transferred to the Panama Canal Zone earning the rank of SP5. Billy was honorably discharged in 1961 and continued serving in the US Army Reserves until 1964. Following his honorable discharge, Billy worked alongside his father at Pioppi’s Bar & Grill in Plymouth until he was hired by Charles Gilman & Sons, liquor distributor in New Bedford in 1968 as a sales representative. After serving 36 years in the liquor business, Billy retired in June of 2004 from Martignetti Companies. Billy was an avid golfer, a member of the Plymouth Country Club and Squirrel Run in Plymouth. He was a member of the Cold Spring Club, American Legion Post 40 and the Teamsters Union, local 122. He served as a Jordan Hospital volunteer for several years in his late retirement. Besides Billy’s beloved wife Judi, he also leaves behind his son Peter E. and his wife Wendy Pioppi, his daughter Patricia E. and her husband John Ferrari, his grandchildren PJ and Daykota Pioppi, Evan, Andrew and Lauren Ferrari. Sadly, Billy is predeceased by his youngest granddaughter, Ava Pioppi who went to heaven just five days earlier. He is also predeceased by his sister, Carol (Pioppi) Bolduc. Billy leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
