William R. “Bob” Norris, 86, Anderson, passed away May 1, 2011 at his home. He was born January 2, 1925 in Anderson, and was a lifelong resident.
Bob served with the United States Army during WWII, in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European, Africa, and Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbons with 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was a Sargeant, a radio repairman, marksman, and technician 4th grade. He was a retired Captain from the Anderson Fire Dept. Bob also retired from Sears & Roebuck.
He was the best repairman, and could fix anything that was put in front of him. Bob had attended Middletown Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks #209, I.F.A., American Legion Post #127 and and Honorary Member of the Vietnam Veteran’s Motorcycle Club, Chapter 4. Survivors include several nephews and their families, including Kevin Nerida Stanger of Florida and great nieces and nephews, Kristopher Melanie Moyer Stanger, Nicholas Stanger and Hope Stanger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married June 30, 1946, Patricia Stanger Norris; son a Vietnam Veteran, Trent Norris; parents, William Cecil & Etta Mae Ferguson Norris; brother-in-law, Richard “Skip” Stanger; sisters, Bertha Mae Brooks & Patty Louise Harlan; and a brother, Charles Ray Norris.
