William “Bill” R. Eichhorn, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at his residence.

Bill was born March 19, 1944 in Wisconsin Rapids to Jess and Ruth (Knuth) Eichhorn. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962 and furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. His marriage to Judy Fitzgerald ended in divorce. Bill married Shelley Lewis on May 11, 1993 in Wisconsin Rapids. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2017. Bill worked for AAL and American Family Insurance and then the Wisconsin Rapids Buyer’s Guide before purchasing Miller Water Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids, which he owned and operated from 1982-2004.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed the annual Canadian fishing trip he took with brothers, family, and friends over the past 25 years. He was meticulous about his yard, always making sure the grass was mowed and the birds were well fed. He loved to golf and was a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan.

Bill was a faithful Christian, regularly attending worship at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, or attending his wife Shelley’s church. Bill is survived by his son, Shane Eichhorn of Wisconsin Rapids; step daughter, Devon Winegarden of Menasha; granddaughter, Justice Eichhorn of Wisconsin Rapids; one great-grandson; siblings: Richard (Fran) Eichhorn of Searcy, Arkansas, Marlene “Susie” Dempze of Wisconsin Rapids, John (Georgia) Eichhorn of Englewood, Florida, James (Beverly) Eichhorn of Wisconsin Rapids, Ruth (Hartley) Arsta of Two Rivers, Jess (Diane) Eichhorn of Blaine, Minnesota, Dave (Jane) Eichhorn of Oshkosh, Ronald (Joan) Eichhorn of Green Bay, Julie (Marc) Johnson of Sturgeon Bay, and Cynthia (James) Hiles of Port Edwards; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and great-great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Keith and Carol Lewis; brother-in-law, James Dempze; and niece Jessica Dupuis.

Bill’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Marshfield Medical Center Cardiology for the wonderful care he received over the years.
