William Lincoln Gurley was born in Somerville, Alabama December 1, 1946 to the late Rance and Henrietta Gurley. He departed this life July 10, 2016 at Decatur General hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Gurley and Gunnie Gurley.
During his early life he accepted Christ and was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Somerville, AL, where he was a member until moving to Detroit, MI. William served in the job corps several years,’ station in Colorado Springs, prior to moving to Detroit in 1967. William was faithfully employed for over 34 years by Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI where he retired in 2001.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, DuJuan Watkins of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Valencia Macon, of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Lord (Sandra) Gurley of Southfield, MI, George Howard Gurley, of Detroit, MI; one sister, Vesta Pears of Houston, TX; one aunt, Roxie Gurley of Somerville, AL.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
