William Patrick Snyder, 79 of Grafton, passed away, Friday, November 11, 2016 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. He was born in Masontown, January 3, 1937, a son of the late Gail Lawrence and Doris Lurline Shay Snyder. William is survived by his wife Linda Summers Snyder, they were married July 17, 1955.
He served six years in the West Virginia Army National Guard including six months at Fort Knox, KY. And then officer candidate school. He graduated from Masontown High School class 1954. He attended Potomac State College and WV University and received a degree in accounting. He was employed by some companies as manager, corporate secretary, corporate treasurer, president and board of director. In the 1960’s he served several years as fire chief of the Kingwood, WV fire department. He was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church and served several years as a lector, president of the parish council, parish finance council, and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus serving in several positions including Deputy Grand Knight. He fought prostate cancer since 1994 with major surgery, 35 treatments of radiation and finally chemotherapy.
He is survived by one daughter Kimberly Kay Baribeau and husband Joseph Dana Baribeau Windsor, CA, two grandchildren, Sonia J. Baribeau and Abigail P. Baribeau, Windsor, CA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Snyder and James D. Snyder. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
