Norwich – William P.”Bill” Gilday, 60 of Mohegan Park Road died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at his home. He was born in New York, NY on November 26, 1952 son of the late John and Patricia (Nolan) Gilday. Mr. Gilday worked as a machinist at Electric Boat Co. in Groton since 1976 and was the Shop steward of the I.A.M. Local# 1871. As a union activist he served as an officer and steward and AFL- CIO political volunteer for many years. Bill was one of the first volunteers at the newly formed Gemma Moran United Way Labor Food Center, and a United Way Union Counselor. Every year he volunteered to help United Ways Day of Caring, Food Drives, Workers Memorial Committee and other activities too numerous to mention. He will be truly missed by his union Brothers and Sisters.
He is survived by his brothers, Jack Gilday and his wife Valerie of East Williston, NY, Kevin Gilday and his wife Evona of Naugatuck, CT and Terry Gilday and his wife Tina of Southbury, CT, a sister, Bonnie Lagocki and her husband Scott of Meriden, CT , his children Linda and William Gilday and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and loving heart.
