William H. McKinney, age 90, of Moody, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016. Born July 14, 1925, Bill was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. He attended Woodlawn High School and proudly served his country in the Marine Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Fifth Marine Division in the battle of Iwo Jima. After the war, he attended Howard College (Samford University) and received his degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University. His career included working for James B. Clow & Sons Cast Iron Pipe, Southern Company Services, Combustion Engineering, and Rust Engineering. He retired from Rust and built a house on the lake where he enjoyed daily walks. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Thomas L. McKinney, Lillie Mae (Bunn) McKinney; brothers Edward Eugene McKinney and Thomas L. McKinney, Jr.; and his beloved wife of 69 years, Carlyn O. McKinney. He is survived by his daughter Lyn McKinney Pierce; son William E. McKinney (Wanda); grandchildren Amy Pierce, Nashville, TN; and Wil McKinney, Alexander City, AL; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
