Goree, William Marshall , dearly loved by his family and friends, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2010. Born in 1922 at his family home on Missionary Ridge, he was the third child of Willie Hatcher Goree and Abner Wisdom Goree and brother to A.W. Goree, Mary Louise Jones and Charlotte Tomlinson Tripp, all deceased. Following his graduation from McCallie School, Marshall attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC. At the outbreak of WWII, Marshall enlisted in the United States Army and fought until the finish of the war. As a member of the 276th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his courageous actions during the Battle of the Buldge. He married his longtime sweetheart Liza Allison Goree just before leaving for active duty in Europe. After the war, Marshall and Liza moved to Lookout Mountain where they raised their four daughters; Corinne Goree McGee(George), Marsha Goree Thompson (Bill), Dottie Goree Brock (Frank) and Allison Goree Willson (Sandy).
