William M. Piatt, 64, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021 at Franciscan Health Lafayette.
William was born in Rensselaer on October 10, 1956, the son of Lawrence E. and Ida E. (Moosemiller) Piatt. William was a graduate of Rensselaer Central High School with the Class of 1977. He began his career as a Stock Associate at Strack & VanTil of Rensselaer in 1989, where he worked for 31 years. William was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer. He enjoyed genealogy and researching his family history. He had an affinity for bats and had recently taken an active role in bat preservation. William was an avid member and promoter of the Parr Area since he was formerly from that area. He loved to travel and his trip to Alaska had a profound effect on him. William was also fascinated with astronomy and space and all the exciting discoveries recently happening.
William is survived by his siblings, Lawrence Piatt of Lafayette, IN, Richard (Beckie) Piatt of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Mary (Ron) Alson of Rensselaer, IN, Patti (Rod) Gonso of Zionsville, IN, John (Jeannie) Piatt of Columbus, IN, and James (Jennifer) Piatt of Milford, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Sarah Baer.
