William Lewis Clark, Jr. 87, of Middletown, beloved husband of Joan (Washa) Clark, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, after a long illness. Born in New York, NY he was the son of the late William L. and Bertha (Kloe) Clark. Bill lived in Simsbury for 40 years moving to Middletown in 1998. He graduated from New York University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art but made his living in the insurance industry. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and remained in the Army reserves for 37 years earning the rank of Colonel. Employed at CIGNA he was the director of Individual Claims. Bill was an active member of E.S.G.R. and a member of Civitan of Middletown. He enjoyed painting and drawing, wood carving (especially eagles) and travelling. He truly loved the beach and enjoyed his summers at Point O Woods Beach in Old Lyme. Bill was tall, handsome with an ever present smile. He was a great storyteller at parties. He had the ability to nap at anytime. The “nap” gene was passed down to many of our family members. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff at the Alzheimers Resource Center, especially Doris, for their kind and compassionate care during his stay. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Kathy Tedone and her husband Joe of Cromwell, Kerry Clark of Rocky Hill and Christine Monahan and her husband Richard of Southwick, MA; seven grandchildren, Jim Tedone and his fiancée Archana Manapragada, Kristin Tedone and her fiancé Robert Davis, Ryan and Adam Desrosiers, Haley and Casey Monahan and Jaime Clark; daughter-in-law Sue Mascia and her husband John of Prospect and dear friends Joan and Harry Ritson of Glastonbury.
