He died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, in his residence.

Born March 15, 1932, in Monroe, Mich., he was the son of Wesley and Ruth Sorter Coppernoll. He was married Nov. 15, 1980, in Peru, to Lesley Razey, who survives.

Mr. Coppernoll was a retired auto mechanic having been employed for many years in Peru. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served aboard the USS Columbus.

He was a member of the USS Columbus Association and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Mr. Coppernoll enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

Also surviving are his father of Logansport; four sons, William Coppernoll Jr. and his wife, Venus, Indianapolis, Richard Coppernoll and his wife, Lisa, Florida, Jerry Coppernoll and his wife, Teresa, Logansport, and James Coppernoll, Muncie; one daughter, Juanita Coppernoll, Illinois; a stepson, Robert Gordon and his wife, Brenda, Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Karen LaTourrette and her husband, J.C., Logansport; two brothers, Richard Coppernoll and Dale Coppernoll, both of Logansport; one sister, Frances Holle, Logansport; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His mother; one sister, Mary Belle; and his stepmother, Vera Coppernoll, preceded in death.
