Mr. William Lee Sewell, 102, of Newnan, formerly of Marietta, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his daughters home in Newnan. Lee was born June 29, 1918 in Newnan, GA. He was one of eight children of the late William Pope Sewell and Nora Dee Sewell. In addition to his parents, his wife of 73 years, Emily Watkins Sewell, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are his sisters, Gladys Sewell (Hyde), Elizabeth Sewell (Parham), Annie Sewell (Parham), Dorothy Sewell (Watkins), Sara Sewell (Stewart) and her brother, Charles Thomas Sewell. Lee grew up in Coweta County where his family has deep roots. He enlisted in the Navy where he served for several years. Lee graduated from Georgia State College and owned and operated his own Texaco fuel distributorship in Marietta for many years. He was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include, daughter, Melissa Powell; grandchildren, Hanson (Sara) Powell III, Emily Gray Powell, Nora Powell; brother, Bobby Rex Sewell; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
