Kenneth (Ken) Stein, 86, of Bellevue, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 25, at Bellevue, Iowa. He lived in Freeport, Illinois for most of his life.
Mr. Stein was born on June 28, 1918, in Benton, Wisconsin, son of Gus and Mabel Krell Stein. He married Marien Dahlgren on March 7, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. He married Verrena (Susie) Giesemann Dagitz on August 5, 1999.Following graduation from Freeport High School in 1937, he worked with his father in the Stein Tin Shop and continued as a sheet metal worker until retirement. During World War II he was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force serving as a B-17 maintenance crew chief.
Surviving are his wife, Verrena (Susie) of Bellevue; daughter, Sandra Lou Stein of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; two stepdaughters, Judy (Neill) Yeager and Betty (Ron) Cavanagh; one stepson, Mark (Amy) Dagitz, 5 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, many nieces and nephews from both marriages, and a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law from both marriages.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marien, and 2 brothers who died in childbirth.
