          Muncie-William Kelly Garrett Sr.,68, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grand Father and Brother passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on August 28, 1942 in Muncie, the son of Kermit and Chloe (Jaynes) Garrett. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1960. Mr. Garrett enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis and was honorably discharged in 1964.  Later, Mr. Garrett graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate’s degree in building trades.                                                     Bill married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Phyllis (Harvey) Garrett on October 31, 1961 in Muncie. They would have celebrated 49 years together later this month. Mr. Garrett had worked as a Coil Winder in the A20 Dept. of Westinghouse later known as ABB.

          He enjoyed doing family genealogy research, blue grass and southern gospel music. Mr. Garrett was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #651 of Muncie, and the American Legion ,Chesterfield.

          Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, of Muncie; his son, William Kelly Garrett (wife-Christina), Muncie; his daughter, Terry Koons (Husband-Kregg O.D.), Yorktown; six grandsons, Christopher J. Helm, Florida,  William L. Garrett, Daxton C. Koons, both of Muncie, Kyle Garrett, Elwood,  Dalton K. Koons and Duncan G. Koons both of Yorktown; three granddaughters, Courtney A.M. Mills, Cassandria L. Garrett and Stephanie A. Garrett, all of Muncie; two great grandsons, Teegan A. Helm, Anderson and Jackson William Garrett; one brother, Melvin Garrett (wife-Carol), Muncie; brothers and sisters in-law, Bill DeSimone, Florida, Ron and Patsy Trissel, Muncie Charlie and Vivian Webb, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

          He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Peggy DeSimone, Fay Garrett and Ida Marie Garrett; two brothers, Buster Garrett and an infant brother.
