William(Bill) K Rankin previously from Fayetteville, AR. passed away on March 25, 2011 at the age of 89 at Bay View Nursing Home in Alameda, CA.
Bill was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA. He attended Iowa State at Ames Iowa and University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa. Bill served in the army for four years during World War 11. He married Marian B Samuelson of Albert City, IA in 1946.
Bill and Marian raised their children in Cedar Rapids, where Bill worked for Iowa Manufacturing and began his International career in exports at C. S. Greene, eventually moving to the home office in Chicago, IL.
His career in exporting led Bill to Des Moines, IA, where the national trade deficit forced him into imports as well.
His skills in International Commerce spawned a multitude of speaking engagements. He retired from Ryder International in 1991 and he and Marian moved to Fayetteville, AR.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Gary Knight Rankin in 2006. His surviving family includes spouse Marian Rankin, daughter Janice McClure and son-in-law John McClure of Alameda, grand children Melissa Marian Fuller and her husband Mike Fuller of San Jose, Christine Margaret McClure of Alameda and Garrett Knight Rankin of Lake Zurich, IL. as well his great grandchildren Catherine and Grace Fuller.
