“Tugboat” Bill Oliveri was born and raised in San Francisco, California, and was a long-time resident of Alameda. He served in the Merchant Marine at the age of 16 during World War II. For more than 28 years, both on tugs and seagoing ships, Bill shipped out on a total of 21 merchant marine vessels, troop ships, victory ships, liberty ships, and supply ships. He made many friends and was always good for a story or a lively conversation. These are only a few of the highlights of a life lived to the fullest.

Tugboat Bill is survived by his wife, Betty; his brother, Michael Oliveri; his step-son, Mike, step-daughters, Susan, Becky and Betsy, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie.
