William Joseph “Bill” Schoettmer, 66, Columbus, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Our Hospice in Columbus.
Bill was born in Greensburg on October 7, 1947 to Raymond and Mildred (Fry) Schoettmer. Bill graduated from Sand Creek High School in Decatur County. He then served in the United States Army as a Ranger during the Vietnam War.
Bill was retired from Cummins Inc. in Columbus. He loved fishing and gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons; Toby R. Schoettmer, Columbus, Troy A. (Michelle) Schoettmer, Columbus, Tim C. Schoettmer, Columbus, two sisters; Ruth E. (Gary) Atchley, Letts, Jean M. (Roger) Harrison, Westport, and 5 grandchildren; Brittany, Sara, Kyra, Tyus, and Jocelyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Mildred Schoettmer.
