William “Bill” Joseph Mahoney, 93, died peacefully at his home on April 27 in St. Charles, IL.
He was born April 11, 1920, in Buffalo, NY. the son of William and Loretta (Reardon) Mahoney.
Bill grew up in Buffalo, and continued a long family history of employment with General Mills by beginning his own career at age 17 as a sweeper in the flour mill. He proudly served his country with the United States Army Air Force. A graduate of Kansas State University in the College of Milling Science, he played on the golf team and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Bill is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Sue Estes Mahoney, his daughters Patricia Franco and Maureen Brellenthin, son-in-law James Brellenthin and his grandchildren Sydney, Molly and Blake Brellenthin, all of St. Charles, IL., and brothers Dick of Charlotte, NC and Neil of Buffalo, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Loretta, brothers Jim, Jack and Bob and grandson, Matthew William Franco.
The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation and gratitude to the kind and compassionate caregivers from Transitions Hospice and Bickford of St. Charles who ensured that Bill’s final months at home were comfortable.
